How to store your seed phrase and keys: a simple scheme
Your seed phrase gives full access to a wallet. Where to keep it and what never to do.
Why it matters
A seed phrase (12 or 24 words) restores every key in a wallet. Anyone who learns it can move your coins, and getting them back is usually impossible. Wallet and exchange support never ask for it.
How to store it
Write the phrase by hand on paper or stamp it on a metal plate. Make two copies and keep them in different safe places, for example at home and in a bank box.
Verify the backup: restore a test wallet and confirm the words are correct and in the right order.
For larger amounts use a hardware wallet and keep the phrase strictly offline.
What never to do
Do not photograph the phrase or save it in notes, cloud storage, a messenger or email.
Do not type it into websites or "wallet verification" forms, even if the page looks official.
Do not send it to a "helper" or support agent. That is always a scammer.
The short version
The phrase lives only on paper or metal and only offline. Everything else is risk.
