NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls)
NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls) is a report on new jobs in the US economy outside farming. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes it once a month, usually on the first Friday.
The market watches it because the job market feeds expectations about interest rates and the dollar. Check exact dates and times in an economic calendar: the schedule sometimes shifts.
A few minutes before the release, spreads on dollar pairs widen. After the number price can jump one way and snap back. A stop can fill with slippage during such a move.
What not to do
Do not open a "news trade" with high leverage and no stop. Do not try to guess the number in advance. If in doubt, wait a few minutes until the market calms down.
