Withdrawal network
A withdrawal network is the blockchain an exchange uses to send your coins, for example USDT on Ethereum (ERC-20) or Tron (TRC-20). Sender and receiver must use the same network or funds can be lost.
How it works
Many coins exist on several blockchains at once. USDT, for example, is issued on Ethereum, Tron, BNB Chain, Solana and others. When you withdraw, the exchange asks which network to use, and fees and speed depend heavily on the choice.
The recipient must accept the coin on exactly the network you pick. If your wallet or another exchange expects USDT on Tron and you send it on Ethereum, the deposit may never be credited. Sometimes support can recover it for a fee; sometimes it is gone.
Similar-looking addresses are a trap. Ethereum, BNB Chain, Arbitrum and other EVM addresses all look the same (0x…), so the system will not always warn you. Check that the recipient's deposit page shows the same network and that the address was copied for that network.
You withdraw 100 USDT to another exchange. Options: ERC-20 with a fee of about 3–5 USDT or TRC-20 at about 1 USDT (rates change). On the recipient's deposit page you choose TRC-20, copy the address starting with T, and pick TRC-20 for the withdrawal. 99 USDT arrives.
The main mistake is picking the network with the lowest fee without checking that the recipient supports it. Open the recipient's deposit page first, see which network they accept the coin on and what address they give, then choose the same network when withdrawing, and send a test for larger amounts.
Questions and answers
What is a withdrawal network in simple terms?
It is the blockchain your transfer travels on. The same coin can move on different networks, and sender and receiver must match.
What happens if I choose the wrong network?
The funds may not arrive or may get stuck. Sometimes the recipient's support recovers them for a fee, but there is no guarantee; for a personal wallet, often only control of the same address on the other network helps.
Which network should I use to withdraw USDT?
The one the recipient supports. If several work, people usually pick the cheaper, faster one, but check the network on the deposit page first.
